Product Manager - News Broadcasting

We are News Broadcasting: Driving digital innovation, our people create award-winning national radio, local radio, and podcasts which are must-listens for millions across the UK, Ireland and beyond. News Broadcasting is the UK's most digital broadcaster with 86% combined digital listening share, complementing its market-leading scale on visual platforms. The group contains the UK national brands of talkSPORT, Virgin Radio UK, Times Radio, Talk and Onic radio stations in Ireland, including Dublin's FM104, Cork's 96fm and Limerick's Live 95.

Your role: You will report to the Head of Product and play a pivotal role in the business, executing the vision, strategy, and improvement of our digital products. This role will lead on the development of the group's website and video strategy, which may expand to our Mobile and CTV apps and voice platforms.

You will distil the product vision into simple and elegant user experiences developed in a lean and agile environment with a focus on delivering business value. You will work with a mixture of in-house teams and external partners to define, develop and manage the products.

Day to day:

Product Strategy and Business Engagement

  • Work with the Head of Product and key stakeholders to translate the business strategy into a product strategy, set business goals, success metrics and detailed roadmaps
  • Lead your product team/s to determine iterations, and prioritise the roadmap based on business value
  • Provide a clear articulation of the product vision, features and functionality to stakeholders and the wider organisation

Customer Value and User Experience

  • Lead collaboration with creative, user experience, and delivery teams to ensure a unified customer experience
  • Effectively communicate product design ideas and concepts
  • Lead collaboration with research, design, UX and software development teams to visualise and prototype products and features.
  • Ensure user research, analytics and testing are built into the product design and development lifecycle
  • Run pilot and beta programs that include metrics to measure success.

Process

  • Work hands-on with design and business analysts, development teams and stakeholders to successfully design, build and deploy new products and features in an agile environment
  • Participate in planning sessions, daily stand-ups and retrospectives
  • Work closely with development teams to clarify requirements or priorities
  • Share and collaborate across the business and technology to ensure a holistic approach and alignment of platform and product roadmaps
  • Ensure product issues and customer feedback are prioritised and resolved
  • Support business analysts to create user stories that convey what you want and to establish and maintain a visible, prioritised backlog

What we are looking for from you:

  • Highly collaborative approach to product development both with business and technical people
  • A detail-oriented self-starter with a positive attitude, capable of staying on track and discovering solutions to problems without supervision
  • Have strong negotiation, organisational and facilitation skills. An excellent presenter with exemplary outcome-based meeting skills
  • You're a compelling storyteller who enjoys communicating concepts and ideas to engineers, peers, creatives and execs
  • Understanding and experience of publishing subscriptions, e-commerce, CRM, web and cloud-based technologies and role and brief design of API first systems, experience in Scum or other agile approaches
