Role Purpose:

The Product Manager - Draw Based Games forms part of the team responsible for defining the product vision and roadmap of The National Lottery's Draw Based Games portfolio. Responsibilities include understanding consumer behaviour and trading performance to support strategic planning, developing and implementing product innovation projects, briefing teams on product requirements and identifying opportunities to drive commercial performance. The role supports a 'hub' of expertise for the game, collaborating with cross-functional teams across all product touchpoints to be a driving force of excellence, ensuring existing and new players experience a high level of satisfaction with the National Lottery's Draw-based Games, maximising good causes contributions while operating with integrity and protecting players from harm.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Understands players and the macro environment to support the development and execution of the annual product strategy and roadmap.
  • Supports the Senior Product Manager in developing and delivering product change and NPD projects, working in collaboration with multiple functions to deliver the project to market. Leads post-launch performance analysis.
  • Leads the proposal for the annual event plan, supported by the Senior Product Manager and in conjunction with the Brand and Marketing teams. Works closely with teams across the business to deliver.
  • Leads weekly trading for product, interpreting insight from consumer research, trading data, and the external environment to understand commercial performance and make recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Creates business briefs for product-related communication and channel requirements, particularly where related to product change projects.
  • Collaborates with the Brand & Marketing and Consumer Insights teams to support the creation of the player targets, game positioning, annual brand plan and monthly media plans, and works cross-functionally to support the delivery of plans to a high standard. Monitors performance.
  • Supports the Senior Product Manager in working closely with the Commercial Planning and Trading teams to set product KPIs.
  • Supports transformation of the games through retail and digital channels. Adhere to, monitor and update key procedures for product in order to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Champion Healthy Play, ensuring that player understanding, and responsible play is at the heart of product decision-making.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A strong written and verbal communicator with the ability to adapt style depending on the audience
  • Able to work cross functionally
  • Numerate, commercial in approach and able to conduct effective analysis
  • Able to craft strong, concise and persuasive commercial briefs
  • Financial planning and analysis skills for use in the analysis of category, games, and revenue performance, sales trends etc to provide accurate interpretation of macro trends for use in the development of strategy and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of commercial aspects of management, demonstrated through consideration of financial implications of planned actions and accurate management of P&L
  • Able to demonstrate ability to 'walk in consumers' shoes and understand and interpret plans through this lens
  • Naturally curious, challenges the norm, whilst being receptive and considerate to other ways of approaching things
  • Is articulate and able to flex their style in order to communicate effectively with many different types of stakeholders
  • An understanding of game design including matrix design, pricing, prize structures, product purpose/appeal as well as considerations around how a game is presented to players.
