Role Purpose -

Product Director - Digital Investments is a newly created role with the responsibility for shaping Calastone's strategy and products in the Digital Investments space. The role holder will be instrumental in shaping the design and direction of the Digital Investments Platform, and in particular how the Platform interacts with the new digital market eco-system, as well as being in charge of the day-to-day management of the associated product development activity. This includes conducting market analysis, soliciting client feedback, defining and communicating the product roadmap and prioritising work for the development team in conjunction with product owners and technology.

You will encourage idea generation from your partners in Commercial, Operations, Marketing and Technology and, crucially, directly with clients. Through industry research and pro-active discovery, you will understand the needs and direction of the market as the industry moves forward into a new tokenised era, joining specialists in the Commercial team in co-creation sessions with clients, aimed at understanding their needs and working on potential solutions collaboratively - keeping scalability and repeatability of the solution front of mind. You own the strategy and applicability of your products, working with key senior stakeholders to take them through from ideation to in-life management and ongoing commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate the product vision and strategy for Digital Investments, including market segments to target and associated propositions, collaborating with the Head of Digital Solutions.
  • Determine and articulate product roadmap for Digital Investments, working with the broader Product team to ensure it is planned into consumable iterations and delivered in line with the overall product roadmap and strategy.
  • Work with the Commercial and Marketing teams to ensure internal and external materials represent the latest product versioning, creating Product collateral where required.
  • Oversee the commercial viability of your product domain, ensuring product level budgets and commercial targets are achieved in line with corporate goals; monitor and optimize your products to maximize chances of success, including profitability.
  • Collaborate with your development partners within Technology and the client-facing teams in Commercial, Operations and Marketing to ensure delivery, adoption and success of your Products.
  • Represent Calastone as thought pioneers at industry events, presenting the vision to the industry.
  • Understand the direction of the market in your domain, cutting through market noise to determine areas of strategic importance to Calastone.
  • Assist Commercial at key stages within the Sales process, including carrying out product demonstrations when required.
  • Carry out Discovery, investigating client needs and establishing views on new product capabilities to meet them.
  • Work with the Commercial and Corporate Development teams to explore partnership and inorganic opportunities that can accelerate the Digital Investment roadmap and plan. Be the face of those interactions and take ownership of driving those partnerships forward.
  • Undertake regular, in-depth competitor research, gaining insights into the extent of our competitive edge and how to maintain it, as well as threats to our positions from emergent providers in the space.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience in Asset Management or Capital Markets required, with roles in product and/or front, middle office
  • Experience and knowledge of the role of digital assets and decentralized finance (DeFi) and their potential to change or replace existing markets, experience in tokenized marketplaces and knowledge of the broader blockchain ecosystem within financial services is important.
  • Clear understanding of Fund Custody and Trading processes and operations
  • Deep experience in product development fundamentals, with strong analytics and structured, data-driven approach
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment and can meet deadlines under tight time constraints
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence at all levels in the organisation
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and motivating them to go the extra mile
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple requirements, deadlines, and projects
  • Knowledge of Lean and Agile software development processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
