Our Quality is paramount to our success, and it is part of the Technical Excellence function to ensure that we get it right the first time, from the planning stage through to the completion of a project .
We are recruiting a quality manager for our northerncontracts inYorkshire Water and United Utilities contracts.
As a Quality Manager at Morrison Water Services, you will play a crucial role in managing Quality compliance on our northern contracts with Yorkshire Water and United Utilities. You will provide comprehensive support to the functions in the end-to-end process for design planning, operational assurance, and quality, following the processes and procedures outlined in our business management system (ISO14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO45001:2018).
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager with support from the technical function, the quality manager will support project delivery by ensuring quality standard compliance with established specifications and BMS procedures and driving a 'get it right first-time' culture throughout the contracts.
Your duties & responsibilities will include:
- Support the project lifecycle across every stage to ensure and enhance compliance with the BMS and client requirements
- Reviewing and approving Quality documentation to ensure effective Project Quality Plans and Inspection Test Plans are in place to successfully manage works
- Lead internal audit process and coordination of any client audits, including accreditation assessments
- Actively drive a culture of 'get it right the first time' to avoid error, with indirect/direct costs and reduced reworks, programme increase, and defects.
- Drive and ensure that post-project appraisals occur at the completion of projects across all workstreams. Through working groups and contract teams, share good practices and lessons learned across the water division.
- Engagement with the client at the relevant levels to build/develop and maintain relationships
- Effective communicator with the broader contract and water divisional team
- Understand the cost of quality of defects and re-works on the contract. Implement any quality improvement plans with the analysis and data trends to drive improvement in this area
- Manage the non-conformance process on the contract based on the BMS requirements.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of ISO 9001 standards and experience in quality management and auditing within the construction industry.
- Experience in working and identifying improvements and updates in the maintenance and management of a BMS/IMS
- Strong auditing skills, plus the ability to problem solve and carry out in-depth root cause analysis.
- Ideally, CQI or IRCA-certified ISO 9001: 2015 Auditor/Lead Auditor qualification
- Ability to integrate with project teams, clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers to achieve quality objectives
- Strong written and oral communication skills, plus leadership qualities required
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office suite of applications
- Ability to write reports and presentations relating to quality findings (audits/defects/costs/NCR)
