Job Title: Procurement Team Lead

Location: Rochester, Kent

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Bonus Scheme

What you’ll be doing:

  • Creating and driving the overall procurement and sub-contract strategy for their product line
  • Ensuring the programs achieve their Design to Unit Production Cost targets through design enhancements in the supply chain
  • Reporting to the Business Area leadership team on progress of the supply chain and the procurement team in achieving the program(s) objectives
  • Liaising at a senior level with suppliers, sub-contractors and partners and influence relationships to achieve or exceed business goals
  • Working closely with engineering and the business area leads to ensure the future technology requirements of the supply chain are understood and drive sourcing strategies to identify supplier capability to meet those needs ahead of program requirements
  • Line managing and working with their team members on Personal Development Plans that ensure the potential of the employees is fully realised through coaching, training and development
  • Expectation to work with other BAE Systems sites, both in the US and the UK. Occasional global travel will be required
  • You’ll also have people manager responsibilities in this role

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of product categories and understanding of global and competitive influences including knowledge of the competitive market space
  • Good understanding of procurement and operations management best practise techniques, including lean techniques, supply chain management techniques
  • Experience across the entire product Life Cycle as it relates to management of procurement requirements and sub-contract management
  • Excellent at stakeholder management and building relationships

Desirable:

  • Lead, coached or influence multi-functional teams
  • Experience of working within the aerospace/ manufacturing industry would be advantageous
  • MCIPS/Degree level qualification or equivalent

The Procurement team:

Rochester is a diverse organisation with a global customer base producing commercial and defence electronics for high integrity controls, active inceptor systems, head-up displays, head-mounted displays, power and propulsion systems as well as an avionics market service centre.

We operate across the entire product lifecycle from cutting edge research to aftermarket support and have suppliers in Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka as well as across the UK.

We are experiencing significant growth with the work we are winning either critical to our national interest and security or essential to our business performance. As a result, the company is investing in our business with an extensive refurbishment of the whole site.
