About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to join our Enabling Functions - Procurement team based in Ipswich
Within this role you'll work closely with the project team and the wider Balfour Beatty procurement community to develop and deliver the procurement strategy in accordance with Main Contract terms, BBR procurement policies and processes
What you'll be doing
As a Procurement Manager you'll:
- Develop and manage the Procurement Strategy throughout the life of the project, reviewing and amending the strategy and agreed intervals
- Deliver the project procurement schedules as per agreed plan within project
- Manage team meetings/ project timescales for sourcing team activities, including communication to stakeholders and decision makers
- Follow BBR procurement processes to place own orders or oversee Buyers placing orders under supervision, including:
- Managing tender/ ITT process
- Application of legal terms & conditions
- Evaluation of supplier bids
- Processing via relevant ERP system (e.g. Oracle/ MCS)
- Reporting savings
- Applies BBR legal Ts & Cs and agrees simple changes as appropriate within scope agreed by Legal/ Project Partners
- Manage supplier performance using the BRAVO system for own projects/ contracts to include managing poor performance and disputes. Escalate any ongoing problems
- Centrally records savings for orders placed after agreement with finance
Who we're looking for
The following personal qualities and experience are essential:
- Negotiation skills (advanced)
- Basic Category Management knowledge
- Ability to set up a source team & run successful tenders/ ITTs
- Good understanding of legal frameworks and contract law
- Working knowledge of ORACLE/ P-cards etc.
- Ability to understand customer & business needs, and to prioritise work accordingly
- Understands supplier relationship management
- Commercial awareness
- Organisation and time management
- Procurement experience at senior level in a large organisation
- Experience of negotiating complex deals of high value/ business impact, with a track record of making savings
- Experience of running successful higher value/ higher risk tenders/ ITTs
- Has successfully run simultaneous projects and delivered positive business results
The following personal qualities and experience are desirable:
- MCIPS or equivalent preferred
- Advanced negotiation training
- Held senior procurement role in construction or manufacturing/ industrial environmen
