Salary: £54,793+ (Depending on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage a small team of buyers to facilitate the strategic management of your defined Suppliers including negotiation of pricing and contracting terms and conditions
- Lead and influence supply and commodity strategies, via continuous improvement, to ensure an affordable, innovative and sustainable solution is being delivered
- On-board new suppliers and lead resource solutions to mitigate risk, managing supplier risk to drive supply chain resilience
- Interface across the Air business with other teams and functions, e.g. PM, Engineering, Commercial, Finance
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the product or service provision meets the governance requirements of the business and our customers and delivers optimum value for money
- Manage supplier relationships and be the primary interface for commercial and contractual issues
- Lead and support Senior Business Reviews with strategic supplier management, including travel to suppliers’ premises as and when required
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Negotiation skills – evidenced experience of price and contractual terms and conditions negotiations
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, fostering close & trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A Continuous Improvement mind-set with proven examples of identifying new ideas that drive improvement, problem solving and working collaboratively with others to identify a solution ideally within a Procurement (or similar) environment
- Detailed understanding and evidenced experience of supplier risk and opportunity management
- Working understanding of tool sets and IT such as ERP systems, Microsoft Office programs particularly Excel
- Ability to compile data, analyse and propose recommendations through reports and presentations
- Experience of performance management, e.g. managing a team or a sub-ordinate
Desirable:
- Previous experience of managing strategic Supplier relationships
- You will have, or be working towards MCIPS or have a similar professional qualification OR hold a degree in a business related subject (e.g. Economics, Business, Finance)

The Air Procurement Function, Strategic Procurement Teams:
We have several vacancies within a dynamic sub-team of around 200 procurement professionals organised into specialised areas each led by a Procurement Director.
The Strategic Procurement Teams are at the forefront of delivering exceptional results across all platforms, for all commodities. We currently have vacancies in various areas including Weapon, FCAS, Electrical and Hardware, Life Support and Crew Escape, and Raw Materials.
These teams are integral to the development, production and maintenance of all of our aircraft, taking ownership of the full lifecycle of products and components.
