Process Engineering Manager

As the Process Engineering Manager, you will provide the first principal process engineering skills necessary to our Central Process Safety team, assisting with the robust development and deployment of the WWSL Process Safety Management System (PSMS).

You will play an active role within the WWSL PSM team, promoting and applying inherently safest design processes, reliable and resilient process control techniques and the application of best available equipment and control technology considerations within the PSMS studies.
What you'll do

In this varied role, you will:

  • support PSMS development, deployment and optimisation, working as part of the PSM team to deliver technical support and governance requirements
  • assist with troubleshooting site processes and technical support for operational staff
  • provide technical expertise and peer review of proposals for optimisation of existing equipment and/or upgrades to ensure continuous risk reduction and environmental, reliability and resilience improvements
  • assist with the development of and oversee DSEAR safety rules for chemical process engineering at bio-resources sites
  • oversee permitting methodology developments for safe isolations and purging requirements within the company's high-hazard operations and gas systems
  • support project implementation and development by supporting the process understanding of existing plant and the impact of changes, together with informing safety and design reviews to ensure operability, reliability and safety of plant and modifications
  • support and facilitate process data understanding to promote, create, update, review and check process engineering deliverables.

What you'll need

We are looking for:

  • a thorough understanding of process engineering design and systems management
  • extensive experience in applying skills in the oil and gas industry or other associated high-hazard process industries
  • a good understanding of process safety management and COMAH regulations
  • demonstrated a level of expertise in some process safety specialist study processes (eg, Risk Assessment, LOPA, SIL, OBRA, MOC, Human Factors, Emergency Preparedness, etc)
  • the ability to facilitate risk assessment processes and have a good understanding of Bow Tie analysis and barrier/lines of defence management
  • a good understanding of the biogas industry, business environment and operational processes, sufficient to advise on Process Safety management deployment requirements
  • a thorough understanding of the management of change principles
  • the ability to analyse complex problems and understand probability and risk
  • excellent communication skills and be capable of detailed investigation and analysis
  • excellent people skills and the ability to positively influence others
  • a deep professional competence in areas of Process Engineering Design and Process Safety Management
  • a degree-qualified Chemical Engineer, Process Engineer or equivalent
  • ideally be a Chartered member of the IChemE
  • extensive experience (a minimum of 8 years) in the oil and gas or process industry, operating under COMAH regulations.
