Probate Manager St Albans
Newstaff Recruitment Agency is recruiting for a Probate Manager in St Albans.
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience + excellent benefits
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with Partners/Directors and clients through various channels (telephone, email, face-to-face) to scope work and maintain progress updates.
- Prepare correspondence to gather information for valuing assets and liabilities as of the date of death.
- Keep executors informed of case progress with regular updates.
- Prepare Inheritance Tax forms with a solid understanding of Inheritance Tax allowances, including nil rate and transferable nil rate bands.
- Manage probate applications and liaise with HMRC, HMCTS, and other third parties as necessary.
- Discuss responsibilities with executors, including asset collection, liability payments, and estate distribution, potentially instructing the opening of a designated client account.
- Maintain estate accounts and prepare estate tax returns, beneficiary statements (R185), and 60-Day UK Property CGT returns as applicable.
Experience Required:
- Comprehensive understanding of probate and estate administration.
- Working knowledge of will validity and interpretation.
- Ability to handle high-value estates with complex trust structures, such as discretionary wills and life interest trust wills.
- Initiative-driven with confidence in managing estate administration completion.
- Experience with more complex estate accounts preparation is desirable but not essential.
IT Skills:
- Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and CCH Practice Management System.
- Familiarity with various digital accounts and applications.
Qualifications:
- Ideally CTA and/or STEP qualified, or a willingness to pursue STEP qualification.
- Alternatively, qualified by experience.

Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (standard office hours).
