Job Title: Principal Engineer – Stealth Design

Salary: £50,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

• Enabling submarines to achieve their signature requirements by identifying risks, uncertainties and dependencies, and following them through to completion

• Influencing submarine design through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

• Supporting Acoustic, Non-acoustic and Airborne Noise related project activities within the SSNA Programme

• Managing project activities including task allocation, progress tracking, material and labour spend tracking, enabling the SSNA programme to meet customer needs to cost and schedule

• Ensuring performance optimisation of the Product though efficient use of engineering and functional resources

• Applying project management methodologies to reduce waste, improve efficiency and establish a best-in-class capability

• Developing an understanding of Stealth from Subject Matter Experts to communicate with a range of people; providing input to Design Reviews, project delivery leaders and the customer

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

• Degree qualified in Engineering, Physics or Mathematical related discipline

• Experience in Platform engineering roles

• Understands the phases of the engineering life cycle and the relationship between activities in different phases of the engineering lifecycle

• Strong stakeholder management

• Ability to quickly assimilate engineering issues and define solutions and opportunities

Desirable

• APM Qualification (can be offered in role)

• Project planning and resource management skills

The Stealth Engineering Department:

As a Principal Engineer, you will be working with a team tasked with assuring the stealth performance of submarines built in Barrow. You will be involved in the early aspects of the submarine lifecycle from concept through to support of the in-service fleet. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
