Role Summary:
As the Principal Client Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of major projects or programmes of works throughout the planning, design, and implementation stages.
Leading on large scale, £multi million programmes of work. Principal point of contact between Council and contractor for highways, buildings and other civil engineering schemes.
Extensive experience of managing complex, large scale schemes. Significant commercial experience and proven ability to lead the negotiations of £multi million contracts and closing final accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of major projects or programmes of works.
- Develop, implement, and manage a programme of work or major project to respond to service Board objectives.
- Recommend technical skills requirements and resource options to deliver projects within agreed timescales.
- Consult with Councillors, stakeholders, and the public on transportation scheme development.
- Provide information and expertise to inform senior management teams and Service Board decisions.
- Prepare reports and project appraisals for Executive Members.
- Identify, collect, and monitor project resources, progress, and financial information.
- Evaluate and monitor engineering concepts/solutions to ensure scheme objectives are achieved to current standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- RQF level 6-7 (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Extensive experience leading a team through programme or major project delivery.
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with teams and stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills to deliver outcomes to time, cost, and quality.
- Ability to work in a political environment.
Decision Making Areas:
- Approve Project Plans received from design consultants.
- Resolution of project and/or programme matters.
- Make recommendations to Members and senior management over project options.
- Undertake 'Client' responsibilities under CDM 2015.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid working (mixture of home and office), with infrequent visits to live sites.
- Communicating with colleagues and contractors in a challenging environment.
- Ability to fulfill the travel requirements of the role.
