We are thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity for a personable and supportive Practice Manager to join our dynamic team at Crossroads Veterinary Centre in High Wycombe. You will collaborate closely with our Clinical Director to ensure the practice runs smoothly, with a focus on operational excellence and team engagement.
Become a Leader
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will be instrumental in maintaining the smooth operation of the practice. Your role will involve driving financial performance, enhancing team engagement, ensuring client satisfaction, and contributing to overall practice success. You will have autonomy in managing the practice, with guidance from the Clinical Director and support team. You will oversee the front-of-house reception team and the admin team, and your leadership will be crucial to the clinic's success within our company's framework and values.
Your responsibilities will include preparing the monthly payroll, managing holiday cover, processing overtime, company sick pay, and SSP payments. You will also oversee diary schedules, manage practice health and safety, and handle facilities and equipment, including arranging repairs and managing group debt protocols. Additionally, you will participate in the annual pay review and staff cost budget process, conduct appraisals and performance management for all non-clinical staff, and collaborate with the Operations team to plan and promote practice events such as Pet Health Plans, career days, discounts, and bundles. Managing client complaints will also be part of your role.
About Us
Crossroads is a three-site small animal first opinion practice located in High Wycombe, Hazlemere, and Watlington. Our modern facilities and fantastic team provide a supportive and welcoming environment. As a training practice, we offer ample support to help new staff integrate and gain experience. We regularly gather for clinical discussions and maintain strong social connections within the practice and with local referral practices.
We have a dedicated team of 8 vets and 7 RVNs, supported by student nurses and PCAs. One of our vets is pursuing a surgery certificate, and we actively support further training for all team members. Our reception team is led by Head Receptionists, and our nursing team is supported by the Head & Deputy Head Nurse.
This role will primarily be based at our main surgery in High Wycombe, but you will also need to visit and spend time at our other branches.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone with a solid background in leadership, operational management, and achieving financial targets. You should have experience in IT, HR, and H&S, with knowledge of engagement drivers, conflict resolution, and complaint handling. Strong financial acumen, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI management skills are essential, along with excellent communication, self-motivation, effective time management, and strong interpersonal abilities. A full driving license is required, as the role involves travel between branches and to external meetings.
Enjoy a Work-Life Balance
This full-time role consists of 40 hours per week, over 5 days, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The hours will be worked within the practice opening hours which are 8:00am - 7pm Monday to Friday. How the hours are worked can be discussed with the Clinical Director.
