A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced people manager to join Holly House Vets as Practice Director.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and developing a diverse team, while driving sustainable business growth and profitability. As Practice Director, you will work closely with the Area Director and Area Support Manager to ensure key initiatives are effectively implemented. You will also collaborate with peer groups during regular meetings, contributing as needed to the overall success of the business.
Who We Are
Holly House Vets is a 24-hour, multi-site veterinary hospital with four branches across Leeds and Ilkley. We offer a wide range of services, including general pet care, a dedicated exotics unit, mid-tier referral services (such as orthopaedics, medicine, dentistry, and advanced imaging), and a comprehensive emergency service, including overnight hospitalisation.
Role Overview
As Practice Director, you will manage the daily operational functions, reporting directly to the Area Director. Your focus will be on providing excellent patient and client care, supporting our team's professional development, and overseeing financial growth, financial forecasting, and operational excellence. Responsibilities will include HR, financial management, marketing, and maintaining compliance across all practice functions.
Leadership

Management
*Drive financial performance and operational goals in partnership with Clinical Directors.
*Maintain compliance across HR, safety, and data policies.
*Create efficient rotas and work closely with Area Support teams.
HR
*Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development, working with Talent and HR teams.
*Ensure fair pay practices and efficient payroll management.
*Encourage continuous professional development (CPD) for clinical staff.
Financial Management
*Manage budgeting, credit control, and expenses.
*Ensure accurate financial reporting and stock management.
*Monitor equipment investment within budget.
*Be proactive to forecast and plan
Marketing and Business Development
*Implement local marketing initiatives to boost brand and client engagement.
*Manage social media, website, and client communications.
Clinical Operations
*Align hospital operations with clinical goals alongside Clinical Directors.
*Ensure compliance with RCVS standards, conduct audits, and promote best practices.
Working Hours
This full-time role requires 40 hours per week, with on-site presence to effectively manage your team.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking candidates with proven management experience in a healthcare setting, particularly those who have managed large, single-site or multi-site businesses. While we welcome applicants from the veterinary industry, we also value relevant experience from other sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on supporting outstanding patient and client care, achieved through excellent management of a high-performing team. You will collaborate closely with senior veterinary surgeons and the Clinical Director to enhance clinical service delivery and ensure the highest standards of care.
