What you'll do
Reporting into the Head of Communications for the UK, you'll be responsible for planning and delivering national media events while ensuring we attract the right audience for these events. You'll also coordinate the attendance of UK media on global media events.

In addition, you will help us measure the success of these events with the support of our media coverage and analysis agency. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the department budget and several support agencies.

One of your most important projects will be planning the UK media launch of our new fully electric flagship SUV, the Volvo EX90.

Here are some of the responsibilities in more detail:

  • Plan, deliver and host national media events such as UK automotive and lifestyle media launch events for new car models
  • Support the planning and coordinating of UK media attending international media events, including all travel arrangements
  • Coordinate our attendance at industry events such as test days and award ceremonies

  • Keep our media lists up-to-date, identify new media to work with and build strong relationships with them
  • Day-to-day management of the department budget, including the tracking of spend, forecasting, raising POs and processing invoices
  • Assist the wider team when required with press office support, providing prompt, accurate replies to media queries and communications around our products and brand
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role and delivering events for journalists and content creators is key. You will be a highly organised team player, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ideally, you will have existing relationships with a variety of journalists and content creators. You will also have a strong grasp of the automotive landscape and know how to tailor events for different types of media
  • This is a high-pace department, so to be successful in the role you will be a self-starter, have excellent attention to detail, be able to work under your own direction and use your initiative. We want someone who is creative, good at problem-solving and seeks to constantly improve the way things are done
  • We need someone who is an excellent communicator both in writing and speaking
  • The role will often require you to be away overnight and will include international travel
