The KBS doctoral programme spans the disciplines of management, marketing, economics and finance and has ambitious strategic plans to grow, enhance and develop. This includes innovating and renewing our doctoral training programme to prepare our students to launch their research projects and bolster skill development, expanding doctoral recruitment and enhancing student experience and doctoral research culture. Currently the School's total cohort of doctoral students is around 120, full-time and part-time, with approximately 35-45 new students admitted each year. The doctoral programme offers our students dedicated campus study spaces, a generous Doctoral Training & Support Grant and a range of events which includes the annual KBS Doctoral Research Symposium.
About the role:
The Postgraduate Research (PGR) Manager is a member of the KBS Doctoral Studies team, providing expert advice and support to PGR students and staff across the school. They will oversee the work of, and line manage the Professional Services members of the KBS Doctoral Studies team (2 x PGR Officers). The role holder will work closely with the Associate Dean for Doctoral Studies, PGR Officers, School Research Manager, the PhD Coordinators for Admissions and Examinations, the departmental Doctoral Studies Leads, student representatives and KBS Postgraduate Research Sub-committee members to ensure that the doctoral programme runs to high standards, both in terms of academic quality and student experience develop and implement PGR policy and strategy. This role is embedded within a growing Professional Services research team and there will be opportunities for cross-team working and projects to learn more about research support across other areas such as impact and research funding.
The PGR Manager will ensure that an end-to-end service is delivered to KBS PGR students and staff, ensure PGR regulations are adhered to, ensure key study milestones are monitored and supported, deliver and implement PGR strategy and develop policies and processes to optimise student experience. The PGR Manager will oversee PGR administration across the school, suggesting improvements and maintaining Faculty templates, processes and guidelines. They will oversee the organisation of student events, the KBS doctoral training programme, KBS doctoral studentships and financial forecasting related to these, monitor PGR budgets and analyse and monitor PGR admissions and student recruitment.

King's Business School operates a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to spend a minimum of two working days per week on campus.
This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- First degree or other appropriate qualifications.
- Substantial prior work experience in higher education administration supporting students.
- Extensive experience of using student systems and student record databases and following and understanding student procedures and regulations.
- Experience of and the ability to provide concise and clear guidance to different audiences using existing policies and procedures.
- Ability to make decisions, prioritise and plan workload across different areas, meet deadlines, and use initiative to identify solutions and suggest changes/ improvements.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to build working relationships with others across an organisation.
- Ability to handle matters requiring sensitivity and a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent IT skills (including MS Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Word).
Desirable criteria
- Experience of line management or leading a team.
- Prior experience supporting postgraduate/ doctoral research.
- Experience of analysing data and producing reports.
- Experience of managing budgets.
