A Snapshot of Your Day

The Portfolio Strategy Manager SGT is responsible for the overall competitiveness of the gas

turbine portfolio for Small Gas Turbine (SGT) business. The PSM is in-charge to develop and

execute the product strategy while operating in a matrix organisation and need to work effectively

across different functions, locations and business units to align stakeholders and ensure buy in.

This role requires a deep understanding of the customer experience for gas turbines, the related

driven equipment compressors, gearboxes, generators, pumps and the applications and market

segments from customer point of view.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Responsible for business development in O&G and IPG traditional markets as well as supporting the existing strategy managers on datacentres and marine market.

• Coordinate regular portfolio review sessions of products within with Small Gas Turbine business for continuous tracking of competitiveness of products. Topics within portfolio review may include (but not limited to): (i) product life-cycle assessment, (ii) product market fit assessment / feedback (iii) Strategic initiatives related to PRM D (iv) Implications on product strategy from deviations in external and internal factors (iv) other topics by management.

• Be a conduit between the PLC team and GS New Technologies team to determine which technologies are relevant to enhance the SGT product line.

• Advisor to the SGT management on product management topics and supporting PLC/PRM heads within the execution unit with strategic product lifecycle topics.

• Participate in ad-hoc strategy topics (related to SGT products from GS Business Strategy or SE Corporate Strategy)

• Take ownership of new product launches together with Sales and Operations

• Present and participate in panels at exhibitions and conferences like Gastech, Data Cloud etc.

• Develop content for marketing material and articles in magazines like Turbo machinery, pipeline international and Gas Turbine World Handbook.

• Build up good relationship with client service and the client facing organization to understand sales levers and technology gaps.

• Obtain feedback from customers (EPC/end users)

• Contribute to Siemens Energy rotating equipment customer events

• Understanding of global energy policy beneficial.

• Execute product benchmarks, periodically review win/loss reports.

• Have good understanding of the main competitors (Solar Turbines, Baker Hughes, Kawasaki) gas turbine products and reciprocating engines (Wartsila, Jenbacher). Identify portfolio gaps and work with stakeholders to gather necessary data to prioritize R&D efforts.

• Prepare, contribute and/or coordinate to product development business cases.

• Be part of the SGT PLC team in driving strategic product related topics for the business.

• The role reports directly to Head of Product Life-cycle of Small Gas Turbines.

What You Bring

• Good understanding of the gas turbines

o Different architectures single vs twin shaft. Multi spool engines etc. Cold-end vs. hot end-drives etc.

o Understanding of gas turbine uprates

o Basic understanding of gas turbine auxiliaries (gas fuel / liquid fuel / lube oil / etc.)

o Understanding of gas turbine maintenance

o Basic understanding of combustion fundamental and emissions legislation

o Understanding of hot gas path preferred.

• Basic knowledge of compressors and generators

• Degree in Engineering and 10+ years experience in Business development, Product Management, Sales, or Strategy roles.

• Great communication skills.

• Team player with good influencing skills.

• Willing to travel 20-30% of the time to meet customers, partners, and SE regions/hubs.
