Salary: £ 55,869

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide professional Project Management taking responsibility for delivery of their projects within a portfolio of Heavy Munitions products.

  • Establish and maintain strong customer/supplier relationships maintaining regular communications and managing expectations, crossing functional, organisational and hierarchical boundaries.

  • Financially plan and achieve acceptable business financial objectives for orders, sales, gross margin and cash, in turn supporting internal business planning processes.

  • Proactively manage risks, opportunities, assumptions and dependencies within project portfolio.

  • Monitor and report project/programme performance for schedule, technical, financial and quality objectives, supporting extant governance processes.

  • Take responsibility for achieving and maintaining positive customer satisfaction.

  • Robustly maintaining registers and records for stockholding of materials and products, developing briefing products and advocating for courses of action to manage stockholdings.

  • Oversee the development, establishment and continuous improvement and tailoring of procedures and guidelines for operation of the project/programme, ensuring adherence to the Operational Framework and Lifecycle Management mandates where applicable.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Proven stakeholder management skills, strong customer and supplier relationship management both internal and external.

  • Strong teamworking, collaboration and organisational skills evidenced across functional and organisational boundaries.

  • Track record of managing and delivering projects of varying complexity to time, cost and quality.

  • Proven risk and opportunity management experience.

Desirable:

  • Preferably degree-level qualification or comparable experience within engineering, project management, supply chain or business management fields.

  • Previous experience with explosives licencing, management and stockholding control.

  • Supply Chain experience within Defence, Aerospace or related industries.

  • Formal training in Project Management (accredited by APM, PMI or PRINCE), with knowledge of scheduling and risk software tools (e.g. MS Project & Predict!), as well as experience of SAP.

The Team:

As part of the Artillery, Tank & Mortar (ATM) Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), working for a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will develop and manage complex P3 to achieve on time delivery of products and milestones, within cost and budget to the agreed quality standard across all phases of the lifecycle. Through the development of effective relationships across functions, sites, internal and external stakeholders, you will play a leading role in the swift and effective resolution of P3 issues. You will be responsible for the development of bids and proposals to support current customers follow on orders. Within the team, you will be the lead advocate and responsible person for the management and control of material and product stockholdings within the organisation for ATM, liaising externally to support such activity. As part of the team, other responsibilities may include running projects to realise strategic, financial and efficiency benefits for the organisation, regular engagement with customers and integrating development activity with extant production programmes to maintain smooth and efficient operations.
