Rates: £450 - £500 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella - Negotiable

- Energy Infrastructure / Utilities / Gas / Water / Rail / Construction experience essential

- Must have experience managing a portfolio of 5-10 projects concurrently

- 10-15 year's experience with Project Controls / Governance / Planning

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • This newly created role will provide dedicated PMO leadership to a group of our business units (business Sectors) requiring a diverse set of skills and experience to integrate planning, project controls governance, risk and opportunity management across a portfolio of projects
  • The role will directly support the business unit in the development and management of project portfolios and assurance of programmes of work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to cost, time and quality in line with Legislation, Company Standards, procedures and corporate governance
  • The Portfolio Manager will provide concise management information and insight to the Business Unit Executive and other key stakeholders on business unit and portfolio performance to enable informed, proactive and timely decision making. The role will have direct influence on defining, implementing and managing critical activities and actions to ensure successful delivery of portfolios of work with a value of up to £1bn
  • We are looking for a person who has proven Senior experience delivering large and complex infrastructure projects in utility organisations or their supply chain.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and team building skills, and be able to demonstrate that they can influence stakeholders in a matrix environment. You shall be results oriented, with attention to detail and a drive to succeed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the successful management and assurance of major programmes of work in the construction or utility infrastructure industries.
  • Proven commercial focus and financially astute.
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.
  • Experience of successful management in a matrix structure.
  • Knowledge and application appropriate assurance models.
  • Demonstrable experience of confidently building strong, diverse internal and external networks to unblock issues and achieve progress.
  • Demonstrable experience of promoting team agendas, breaking down barriers and focusing on the best outcomes.
  • Significant experience of creating clear standards, delegation and empowering others.
  • Demonstrable ability to differentiate between strategic and operational issues, collaborating with a range of external stakeholders and colleagues.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Energy infrastructure experience would be advantageous.
  • Professional qualification in Project Management (e.g. APM PMQ / IPMA Level D).
  • Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) would be beneficial.
  • Project Planning / Primavera P6 experience would be beneficial.
  • Risk Management knowledge, skills and experience or large complex Projects would be advantageous.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing Workforce planning would be beneficial.
  • Project Cost Accounting fundamentals would be advantageous.
