About the role
We are looking for a dynamic Policy Manager to play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of Climate Group's Transport strategy. Based in the Transport system's policy team, you will help deliver a growing body of policy engagement work, taking responsibility for key work within the EU and the UK. You will also support coordination across ongoing policy projects in India, Japan, North America as well as new planned projects in Latin America and Africa
You will be based within our Systems team and report to the Senior Policy Manager working closely with other colleagues across the transport system and Climate Group.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Policy Manager to develop and implement the global Transport strategy to support the uptake of EVs in global markets where we are active
- Draft policy positions, briefings, consultation responses and similar documents particularly in Europe
- Monitor policy and market developments related to electric vehicles (EVs), integrating into communication with colleagues and members
- Build relationships with policy makers and political stakeholders.
- Work with partners to deliver policy advocacy activities to advance the Transport team's global policy messages in priority countries
- Liaise with colleagues in Climate Group's other systems teams, including the Government & Policy team to deliver coordinated advocacy work in priority countries
- Work closely with EV100/+ members to make sure the challenges they face in decarbonising their fleet are reflected in calls for concrete, effective and timely policy interventions
- In collaboration with comms colleagues, ensure policy calls are supported by effective communications activities
- Represent Climate Group and our Transport system at key events to communicate our policy messaging to relevant audiences
- Manage and deliver policy working groups and policy engagement plans to shape and drive delivery of policy advocacy activities in-country
- Support Senior Policy Manager in delivery of wider programme of work, deputising on opportunities and responsibilities where necessary and agreed.

Essential
- Knowledge and experience in policy, public affairs, transport, economics, international relations or related fields as well as influencing policy making from non-profit and corporate perspectives.
- Impact oriented and results driven attitude, able to demonstrate contribution to successful impact outcomes and flexible and adaptive planning skills
- Strong organisational skills, with ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment, prioritising and delegating effectively
- Strong research and writing skills and ability to synthesise policy messaging from complex content
- Problem solving mindset with experience managing risks and challenging relationships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of cultural contexts
- Commitment to the mission of Climate Group and our Transport System.
- Experience in developing and implementing policy work
- Knowledge of the EU and/or UK decision making process
- Excellent level of English, knowledge of other languages, especially French is considered a plus.
Desirable
- Experience developing and delivering policy advocacy strategies and activities from non-profit or private sector stance
- Working proficiency in French and Spanish
- Knowledge of Transport decarbonisation, globally and in EV100/EV100+ priority geographies
- Experience organising multi-stakeholder convenings, including workshops, roundtables, events etc...
- Appreciation of commercial and financial drivers for businesses and NGOs
- Good at working in teams and with people from different countries

You'll be based in our London head office near Tower Bridge and will enjoy the benefits of flexible and hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

This is a permanent position. The salary offered is £36,420 - £38,560 per annum, based on experience.
