About the Role

Base Location:Perth, London, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness

Salary:£47,600 - £71,600 + performance related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern:12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible Working options available

We have an excellent opportunity for a Policy Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract/secondment.

We're looking for a highly motivated and energetic Policy Manager to proactively influence the development of UK and Scottish Government policy to help meet business objectives and support the transition to net zero emissions.

As part of the Corporate Affairs Transmission team, you will be responsible for coordinating SSEN Transmission's response to policy and legislative change, working closely with colleagues across the business and the wider industry to help inform and positively influence Government policy.

Key responsibilities include:

- develop policy positions to support SSEN Transmission business objectives and proactively design and execute engagement programmes with policy makers and wider stakeholders to build advocacy for SSEN Transmission's policy priorities.

- coordinate and draft responses to Government and industry policy consultations, Parliamentary Inquiries and legislative development, proactively seeking opportunities to positively influence the direction and outcome of policy change with Government officials, elected members and wider stakeholders.

- create engaging and compelling content (thought leadership blog, briefings) for an external audience and use on external channels (i.e. parliamentary briefings, web/social media content).

- proactively build alliances with wider stakeholders, advocating on behalf of SSEN Transmission's customers and stakeholders and protecting the interests of current and future GB consumers and tackling the climate emergency.

- horizon scan to advise on emerging policy thinking and trends and identify upcoming risks and opportunities for business unit operations.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- an understanding of the Energy industry gained from professional and/or academic experience as well as through social/professional networking with experience within a similar energy policy and/or business development role.

- a keen interest and understanding of UK and Scottish politics and the associated legislative processes underpinning changes in policy and legislation.

- excellent team work and communication skills with the ability to present to internal and external audiences on business-critical content as well as the ability to lead and manage a cross business response to policy change.
