PLM Architect & Implementation Manager
This new role reports into the VP Engineering within the Semiconductor Chamber Solutions Division however the PLM Architect will define architect and implement a product lifecycle management solution consistently across the three Semiconductor division, this role will also work with the other divisional leads.
In a project based role, the candidate will lead the relationship with our external partners to define and develop a fit for purpose PLM strategy which works to enhance the technical data management and embedding an appropriate standard in the decentralised businesses.
Location of the role can be flexible although travel globally to sites and to our VTBA Global Head Office in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, may be required.
Main Responsibilities
- Define and execute the creation of an engineering product lifecycle management system across Semi divisions, providing a technical data management solution which optimizing the management of technical data through life. This will include running the down-selection process to instruct the right service provider to match the business requirement.
- Implement a PLM solution that is compatible and supports the technical requirements for divisions, product companies, customer centres in the Semi divisions, which enable efficient and lean technical data transactions
- To ensure that the PLM solution will operate in conjunction with the ERP, Manufacturing and Customer experiences and will enhance the current system functionality and provide a level of appropriate configuration. Creating a standard template which will allow for any future acquisitions to adopt.
- The PLM architect in leading the technical definition and roll out of the PLM System, for the Semi divisions, will be the primary point of contact internally and externally.
- Collaborate across the VTBA, including the non-Semi division to create and share best practice in engineering product lifecycle solutions, supporting the business.
- Taking a lead in defining the technical digital management solution which enables the business to thrive in line with the Semiconductor engineering strategy.
- The PLM architect will work with project management support to define and create the business case and manage the service providers to deliver to the required technical specification and the post implementation support contract and at the end of the implementation program handover back into normal business execution.
Skills and experience
- Understanding of engineering end to end process including product development, design authority rules and legal and regulatory requirements
- Experience of leading and implementation of PLM systems in industry with commerical competence
- Proven ability to lead a service provider to technical specification and quality requirements
- Sound understanding of engineering BoM definition and configuration control, system interfaces and cross functional commitments to deliver robust product control through related systems and applications eg SAP, Finance reporting, Manufacturing Systems
- Sufficient business and commercial awareness to identify a clear business case and working with engineering processes to devise a system applications which enable a world class engineering organisation
- Management expertise: able to build and develop a cohesive team and relationships, to provide leadership and direction, and to foster good communications
- Influencing, communication, presentation and negotiating skills at the highest levels, both internally and externally. Able to achieve credibility and command respect.
