Job Title: PLM Application Engineer

Salary: £ 47,683+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
The role will be hands-on working as part of a team of technical specialists who work collaboratively and responsibilities include:
• Working with vendors to support the creation and evolution of the application architecture
• Installation and configuration of application servers for hosting of large-scale multi-tier applications
• Configuration of interfaces between component parts of the application
• Support, enhance and develop the documentation knowledge base.
• Data migration activities
• Support to testing activities
• Application deployment into development, testing and production environments
• Support of development, testing and production environments
• Provide information and feedback to internal or external customers in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner ensuring that key messages are communicated effectively.
• Defect resolution and patch updates
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
• Proven experience of working in an application installation or support role in either a Windows or Unix/Linux environment
• Experience in IT application infrastructure and hosting
• Installation and configuration of application servers (e.g. Apache HTTP Server, Tomcat)
Desirable:
• Knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter would be ideal but not essential
• Knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL Server
• Scripting experience either Windows PowerShell/DOS Batch files, UNIX scripts, SQL scripting
• Knowledge on software configuration management, specifically GIT
• Experience of working in the engineering environment

The Air Sector – ESCC – engineering systems competency centre Team:
You’ll be part of the Air Sector’s Engineering Systems Competency Centre (ESCC), working within the Digital Engineering Programme on the Air PLM project. This is a fast-paced and collaborative team, supporting a wide variety of work driven by frequent application releases and ongoing business change.
The team fosters a friendly, open culture and works closely with both internal stakeholders and external industry partners to drive innovation, share expertise, and embed best practices across BAE Systems.
