We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant Manager to join us in our Scottish Division supporting works on our ASTI & British Antarctic Survey frameworks. This role will be based from the project offices in Kilsyth, with the requirement of travel to our sites occasionally as the projects needs arise.

Your mission
- Development and implementation of framework plant management strategies
- Management of plant, equipment and staff at a framework level, during the Early Contractor involvement-stage and execution stage of the projects
- Assist the project management team in the development of business cases for procurement of plant and equipment
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and spend profiles relating to plant, equipment and resource allocations
- Promote the development of innovative ideas to improve safety, efficiency and environmental compliance and improvements.
- Identify resource requirements (plant inspectors, plant mechanics, LOLER inspector) to meet the needs of the programme of delivery
- Recruitment of resources to support the safe, efficient and timely delivery of the projects supported
- Management of resources including allocation of resources, supporting ongoing development through PDR process, identifying/arranging training needs
- Ensure works are planned and safe systems of works are implemented where required, lift plans, risk assessments, coshh assessment, workshop plans, activity plans etc.
- Engage with supply chain partners to identify framework opportunities and assist the commercial department in establishing subcontract packages which are aligned with our plant management strategies and procedures.
- Engage with supply chain for procurement/hire of required plant, equipment and parts.
- Organise and oversee the procurement, delivery and shipping of new plant, equipment spares requirements following the company procurement procedures.
- Ensure projects are managing plant in accordance with the relevant legislation and company procedures.
- Organising in and out surveys of equipment, the inspection of third party equipment.
- Ensure accurate records, clear and concise data, reports and records relating to plant and equipment are maintained.
- Reviewing plant management documentation , r outine auditing and s upport the site team in escalation of issues
- Undertake site visits and undertake auditing of plant management, as required
- Provide advice and assistance to staff responsible for identifying resource needs and management in accordance with company procedures.
Who are we looking for?
- Comprehensive range of experience.
- Experience working in remote and challenging locations.
- Contractual awareness of NEC3 (not essential).
- In depth knowledge and experience in heavy civils and construction plant.
- Ability to read and understand parts manuals.
- Ability to read and understand plant technical drawings.
- Knowledge of logistics coordination.
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc).
- Ability to work with and manage a remote team.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Level 4 plant and equipment management (Engineering Technician).
- Level 3 occupational health and safety.
- First Aid at Work.
- CSCS.
- Technical seminars and workshops.
- PST Training and BAS Medical Clearance, as necessary (in the case of any potential deployment to Antarctica)
