Planning, Performance Improvement & Risk Manager

Sheffield City Council is the fourth largest local authority in the UK and has a Revenue Budget of £1.4bn and a Capital Budget of c.£200m per year. We have recently agreed our 4-year Council plan and refreshed Performance & Outcomes Framework.

We have ambitious plans for achieving the Council plan outcomes and improving our performance overall, which this role will be key to realising.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to the join the

new Planning, Performance Improvement & Risk team. This team will join our existing Performance and Business Intelligence team, responsible for range of functions corporately.

You should have:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Curiosity and drive to understand the root causes of performance issues.
  • Able create cases for change\improvement using a range of methodologies and evidence.
  • Determination to see through improvement plans to resolution.
  • Effective stakeholder and relationship management.

You will be expected to:

  • Be part of a team that will work with corporate and service-based performance teams to identify and develop solutions to our most important performance and risk issues.
  • To be responsible the for the annual service planning process, ensuring plans are robust and in alignment with the Council Plan and Outcomes framework.
  • Manage a range of improvement activities concurrently across different parts of the organisation in relation to performance improvement.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
