Job Summary
In this role, you will oversee all production and manage the Area Managers and Planning Staff. You will help develop and communicate short through long-term visibility of production requirements ensuring that customer requirements are built into site strategy. Responsible for analysing performance against schedule, planned costs, and targeted improvements creating an effective PDCA system. You will liaise with Supply Chain Management and other tooling partners to prioritise production. Support the Senior Site Manager in meeting safety, quality, cost, customer and service objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage Production Planning Staff
- Oversee all scheduling, forecasting and planning activities
- Oversee all procurement and ensure purchasing is cost effective and timely
- Ensure the Shop Floor Data Collection system is effectively managed to provide accurate information
- Interface with external stakeholders including plants and other tooling functions to supply and receive information related to Bodmin tooling
- Manage Area Managers
- Oversee all production activities and output
- Ensure LDMS reporting structure is adhered to and creates value for the organisation
- Ensure all machinery is suitable and sufficient for high quality production, in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and Area Managers
- Provide managerial leadership and direction to all direct reports to ensure objectives are fully understood and met
- Ensure effective performance management throughout planning and production teams
- Deputise for and support the Senior Site Manager
- Support Global Tooling Group alignment
- Support the Engineering Manager in driving continuous improvement
- Ensure quality meets the company's and customer's expectations and work with the Quality Manager to promote a quality culture
- Drive production and planning activities to ensure Health, Safety & Environmental compliance
- Support introduction of new manufacturing processes and ensuring best practice is shared within the Tooling Group
- Ensure all priorities are clearly identified and that personnel are deployed appropriately to meet the priorities
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Formal Tool Making apprenticeship and/or other relevant Engineering qualification
Work Experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in Engineering and/or Tooling
- Minimum of 5 years of tool making experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a management or supervisory role in a manufacturing or tooling environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- CIEH Supervising Safely Level 3 certificate or equivalent.
- Formal supervisory training NVQ level 3.
- Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surfaces grinders) and measuring equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in all processes involved in the manufacture of mould and press tooling
- Knowledge & Experience of Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems
Desirable:
- 6 Sigma Green Belt
- Experience in auditing QMS and HSE systems
- Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target
Travel Requirements
10%: Up to 26 business days per year
