Planner/Senior Planner

We are looking for a recently qualified Planner or experienced Senior Planner to join our Planning team in Oxford. Based in the Oxford hub office you will be part of the wider and fully integrated Planning and Development South team currently comprising 18 planning and development professionals with a range of specialisms and extensive experience of working collaboratively on planning and development projects across a number of sectors throughout the south and southwest. The role will help to assist in generating fees through dealing with a variety of planning matters, enhancing existing client relationships and securing new clients, and to contribute towards achieving the financial and other objectives of the Planning team. Clients are wide randing and include Blenheim Palace, CEG, Oxford University Hospital Trusts and UK Atomic Energy Authority.

Main tasks:

  • The provision of professional planning advice to clients on a variety of planning matters
  • Negotiations with local authorities and other statutory undertakers on behalf of clients on planning applications and planning and other related matters
  • Written representations, informal hearings and public inquiry appeals
  • Representations on behalf of clients to local plans through evidence at local plan enquiries
  • Provide advice to clients on planning potential of site
  • Undertake detailed negotiations with local authorities and other statutory bodies on planning and related matters
  • Prepare layout plans for development schemes
  • Work in close partnership with other departments of Carter Jonas to provide a range of services and professional advice to enable clients to make the right decision
  • Prepare and submit planning applications
  • Prepare statutory declarations
  • Prepare and submit applications for Certificates of Lawfulness, proposed or existing
  • Prepare and submit grounds for appeal

What will it take to be successful?

The ideal candidate will be RTPI Chartered and have post qualification experience in a planning consultancy role with experience in consulting and/or local authority. As a Planner you will be eager to develop your knowledge of the local area and the planning system. You will be able to work independently on smaller projects and as part of a team. You will have experience preparing for and attending client meetings and will have strong communication skills and a "can-do" attitude. You will be ambitious and proactive in your own development and will be keen to learn new skills.
