Workplace: White City, London - 3 days a week in the office

The role

To create dynamic, eye-catching and engaging publicity images and to manage the picture publicity campaigns to accompany programmes across linear schedules and ITVX to support the strategy of the Media and Entertainment division and to reflect changing viewer behaviour. This role will work cross genre and be able to work on entertainment, reality, factual, sport and drama programming.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage picture publicity campaigns across all genres including devising concepts and creative for key publicity visuals, commissioning photographers and other freelancers, talent approvals, editing and captioning.
  • Planning and executing a picture publicity strategy for each campaign inline with the wider M&E objectives.
  • Understand how to use photography as a news story. The successful candidate will have the ability to create and generate positive headlines from their imagery and have the ability to maximise news generation opportunities.
  • Create moodboards, pitch documents and creative decks for stakeholders for picture publicity campaign shoots.
  • The successful individual will also be confident in new technologies and able to incorporate them into campaigns, their delivery and planning.
  • Have a wide network of contacts to bring in and encourage new talent when and where possible.
  • Manage the production process on publicity shoots. Including presenting ideas to stakeholders, booking and briefing freelancers, managing the photoshoot and managing post-production and delivery within company wide deadlines.
  • Take delivery of imagery, resize, crop, caption and prep for wider release both internally and externally.
  • Create press packs in Keynote and/or Google Workspace for internal and external usage.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of the wider marketing, social, creative and publicity teams as well as the production and commissioning teams to devise fully cohesive and innovative picture publicity campaigns. Work closely with the wider marketing team on programme launches and events. This may include but is not limited to event branding and photo opportunities.
  • Have an advanced understanding of content creation and be able to construct appropriate picture opportunities for them as and when required. Be confident and generate ideas for wider activations and know what works for this group of media.
  • Working closely with Producers to ensure top-quality photography is delivered for programming not being supported with a picture publicity campaign shoot. This will include but not be limited to; briefing creative, explaining deliverables and ITV requirements, suggesting photographers and designers and advising on photo shoot logistics.
  • Manage logistics and photographers for red carpet photocalls and events.
  • Manage talent and their teams during publicity shoots and the talent approval process.
  • Upload imagery to the ITV Picture Publicity website and internal archives and work streams.
  • Work collaboratively and as part of a wider Picture publicity team; sharing skills and best practices.
  • Field and answer picture publicity enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cover absences of others on the Picture Publicity team when they are on annual leave.
  • Where relevant, work with influencers and content creators to facilitate the creation of digital assets for use within our publicity campaigns

Unusual Challenges/Circumstances

  • Extensive travel abroad.
  • Weekend and evening work especially when relevant programmes are on air

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • The ability to recognise good picture-led news stories and the ability to commission, brief and deliver relevant imagery to both print and digital media as part of the wider publicity campaign.
  • Excellent relevant contacts across print and digital media.
  • Excellent relevant industry contacts including but not limited to; photographer, designer, set builder.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and extensive experience in editing, captioning and prepping images for release.
  • Proven experience working with Talent in photo shoot and on-set environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing picture publicity campaigns and photo shoot production.
  • Demonstrable creative and strategic thinking with excellent personal and communication skills.

  • Highly articulate and informed.
  • Keen interest in and understanding of the media industry and in innovations in picture publicity.
