Physical Activity Framework Development Manager (12 Months Fixed Term Contract) - Ref: SS05124

Grade: G11; Salary Range: £46,464 - £51,515

The Physical Activity Framework Development Manager will be a member of the dynamic Public Health team. You will provide leadership and advocacy for health and wellbeing and support the development and implementation of policy and practice to reduce inequalities across Walsall. You will be required to work with staff, organisations, and community groups to build public health capacity across Walsall whilst targeting support to those in greatest need.

The post holder will lead the development of an ambitious physical activity strategy or framework for Walsall.

The framework will:

  • ensure comprehensive system wide action to promote more active lives amongst residents
  • help co-ordinate and build upon existing assets (e.g. facilities, transport network, communities, workforce including volunteers and coaches, communications)
  • develop and understand community insight
  • provide a consistent approach to monitoring sustained participation
  • identify priorities and intended direction of travel alongside a complimentary action plan

In line with the framework and action plan, the post holder will coordinate relevant funding applications (particularly Sport England's Place Based Investment), influence partners to allocate resources accordingly and facilitate streamlining of relevant projects to ensure greater efficiencies and improved physical activity outcomes.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working at a strategic level, developing system wide physical activity policy and leading significant and successful external funding applications.
