PHEM Senior Clinical Fellows

12-month fixed term contract (starting August 2025 or February 2026)

Salary: Circa £72,000 per annum based on an average of 42 hours per week

Location: Norwich & Cambridge

Closing date: Monday 16 September (9am)

Recruitment Selection Day: Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend a recruitment selection day at Helimed House in Norwich on Wednesday 02 October

Interview date: Interviews will take place between Monday 14 October - Wednesday 16 October

Please note this is not a LET-B recognised training post, and you will not receive a National Training Number or a CCT in PHEM.

You will be trained by East Anglian Air Ambulance as a member of a specialist pre-hospital emergency medical team, who provide the full range of pre-hospital medical interventions. This role will partner a critical care paramedic and may lead the clinical team, responding to a wide range of critically ill patients across the East of England.

About us

EAAA are available 24/7 in Norwich and Cambridge and activated via the Critical Care Desk of the East of England Ambulance NHS Trust, deploying to the incident using the most appropriate means available (rapid response car or air ambulance). Often working alongside the other emergency services, the team may be involved with delivering the full spectrum of pre-hospital critical care at the scene, as well as in transit to hospital. This commonly involves managing seriously ill or injured patients who may be entrapped or require specialist interventions prior to transport.

You will be involved in aspects of governance and non-clinical work such as audit and case review and there are opportunities for research projects to be undertaken. There are also opportunities to develop teaching and presenting skills, and regular teaching will be provided.

The post will be supported by an initial PHEM training course with individually themed days. These are comprised of a combination of simulator based and classroom teaching sessions, prior to directly supervised clinical practice, leading to a summative end-of training 'sign-off' to work autonomously within the team.

About you

This is an excellent opportunity for those who have a minimum of 4 years post-registration experience and come from an acute specialty such as Intensive Care, Anaesthetics, Acute or Emergency Medicine. You will need to have a minimum of 6 months experience in Emergency Medicine and Anaesthetics.

You will be passionate about learning to deliver exceptional pre-hospital care to the highest standards and will have the ability to build rapport with fellow emergency services workers. You will demonstrate outstanding clinical leadership skills and have an alignment with the values and vision of the charity.

For an informal chat regarding this role please contact Nicola Ebbs, Deputy Medical Director (Clinical Governance & Service Delivery) on 03450 669 999.
