What does the role involve?

As BW Legal's People Operations Manager, you'll be hands on, working in a forward thinking and contemporary HR department. As an Investors in People GOLD employer, this role is key to ensuring a people centric approach is taken throughout the employment lifecycle. You will embrace technology by using our HRIS, People HR, to an advanced level and as a key tool in automating our people processes to enhance the end user experience.

Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you'll take a continual improvement approach to the people service we are delivering. This role is varied, with no two days the same as you guide line managers through the entire employee lifecycle while overseeing the day-to-day management of a small but friendly team.

What are the role's key responsibilities?Employment Lifecycle Administration
• Leading the smooth running of the People Operations team to ensure that all day-to-day administration duties are proactively delivered to the highest level within agreed SLAs
• Managing the People Operations Reporting Schedule, ensuring that reports are reviewed and delivered in a timely basis, with any corrective actions taken
• Conducting second line checks on all routine letters to ensure written communications are to a high professional standard
• Ensuring effective management of all colleague Company Benefits and Reward and Recognition schemes.
• Managing the information held on the HR database to ensure it is accurate and compliant with any legal or GDPR policies
• Providing advice and direction to the team on work priorities and any changes to processes or policies
• Ensuring that the offboarding process is handled in a professional manner to ensure everyone is treated consistently and fairly
• Working with the Head of People & Culture to support key business deliverables, such as Investors in People accreditation

Employment Lifecycle Advice to Managers
• Supporting line managers as the first point of contact for ER issues including absence, performance, conduct, flexible working, health, wellbeing and risk assessments
• Advising managers on terms and conditions of employment and sharing best practice Providing first line advice on current and existing benefits within the Your BW Rewards package
• Supporting line managers with effective recruitment, conducting robust interviews in line with our BW Way and ensuring a fair selection process is followed to recruit the best talent
• Staying up to date with current legislation to update our existing policies, proposing changes to the Head of People and Culture.

People Operations Team Management
• Managing a small but friendly team, ensuring robust HR processes
• Developing and supporting team members to encourage retention and maintaining a positive working environment

Other duties
• Demonstrating the company values and a high-performance work ethic with a focus on successful outcomes
• Any other ad-hoc duties required across the wider People & Culture team

We ask you to have the following skills and experience:
• Extensive working knowledge of HR processes and procedures
• 5 years' experience in a HR Role and 3 as HR Manager or running small HR department / similar role
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS best practices
• Level 5 CIPD qualified, degree in HR or equivalent qualification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

While not essential, it would be advantageous to have the following skills and experience:
• Knowledge of People HR system
• Knowledge or experience of legal or financial services industry or another regulated environment
• Level 7 CIPD qualified
• Experience of supervising a small team, including coaching and developing others

Your working week will be 35 hours, 7 hours per day, to be agreed either 8.30am-4pm or 9am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
