Full Time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday

On site - Lanark based

THE ROLE:

The People Manager will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for implementing and delivering the People Strategy in line with the overall business objectives. The People Manager will work on an operational level to drive HR initiatives as well as identified strategic projects. In addition, the People Manager will lead the People and Safety, Health and Environment Team - ensuring the continued development of a strong values led, safety and environmentally focused culture.

This is a fully generalist role with responsibility for all aspects of the People function and employee lifecycle. The successful candidate will report directly into the CEO and will play a key role in ensuring that the people agenda is aligned to the overall business strategy. We are looking for someone who has a solid foundation of generalist HR experience, preferably gained within a similar manufacturing environment.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT:

  • Develop and implement the People strategy and Safety, Health &Environment Strategy to drive and support the achievement of Border's strategic goals.
  • Providing the framework and tools to attract, retain and develop team members to drive high performance and engagement.
  • Provide professional, effective and customer focused expertise on all people matters, including performance management, talent management, organisational design, learning and development and employee relations.
  • Oversee all the employee life cycle activities including talent acquisition, performance management, onboarding and offboarding
  • Lead the People Team and Safety, Health and Environment Team, coaching, mentoring and developing the team.
  • Inspire and influence effective change management at both an organisational and departmental level
  • Drive engagement initiatives including the annual employee engagement survey with follow up action plans
  • Ensure all HR policies, procedures and systems meet the business needs and comply with relevant employment law and legislation
  • Identify, measure and present appropriate solutions to mitigate against HR and people risks
  • Act as a key member of Border Community Support Team (registered charity of Border Biscuits Ltd)
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with Trade Union representatives
  • Provide general day to day HR support on operational issues

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Level 5 CIPD Qualification, minimum of 5 years HR experience
  • Experience in an HR Leadership role
  • Experience developing and implementing HR strategy, writing policies and practices.
  • Broad HR generalist experience, understanding how HR can support business objectives
  • Broad knowledge of HR best practice across talent management, recruitment, employee relations and L&D
  • Strong change management experience
  • Experience working with Trade Unions would be beneficial
  • Proficient IT skills, such as Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
