Job Purpose and Summary

Canon Europe are looking for a People Development Director. In this role you will lead the Canon EMEA People Development department to support the organisation to achieve it's Mid Term Plan (MTP) commercial results via;

Owns the strategic responsibility for People Development practices including need analysis, development, facilitation/training delivery, and evaluation. Uses this knowledge and experience to great effect as a member of the EMEA HR Strategy team to support development & execution of the HR MTP.

Lead the people development and learning resources, both internal and external, across EMEA to achieve the agreed business objectives.

Act as a key member of the EMEA HR leadership team. Supporting its endeavours to achieve its MTP goals and ensure Canon EMEA achieves the optimal return on the human capital it employs.

Ensure that Canon EMEA's people development and learning environment and approach, is up to date and embracing the relevant methodologies and technologies available, to achieve the organisations business objectives.

Act as a strategic thinking partner with the business to reflect on its people development and learning outcomes and analyse its future needs, based on current performance and new strategies/tactics.

To develop and deliver business focused people development strategies, programmes and plans that support building up relevant employee capabilities and promote our Employee Value Proposition; making a positive contribution to employee commitment.

Management of the Canon EMEA learning & development budget. Ensuring this is spent in accordance with the business performance and providing the development for the business that will give the biggest impact in the short term but also preparing us well to meet our mid-term plan capability requirements.

Create and fully utilise a 'Peer' network across the other Canon Group companies People Development Organisations, providing and receiving services as appropriate and supported by a clear SLA.

Identify and use Canon EMEA Brand protection and promotion opportunities in all the People development activities.

Ensuring that people development outcomes are embedded within the organisation, via involvement in the creation and review of HR & business processes; for example, but not restricted to,

The selection and development of People leaders, Remuneration policy creation, etc.

Lead the discussion and activities to identify and integrate the relevant Capability/Skills matrix to support Canon EMEAs Performance Development.

Provide the relevant business requirements to ensure we have the right systems and processes to provide an effective and efficient service to our employees and people leaders.

Ensure that the People Development organisation supports the 'Change Management' of any HR organisational design and development projects & are equipped as employee advocates for Canon with both internal and external stakeholders.

What we ask

  • Significant experience of People Development and Learning interventions in a complex and fast-moving cross cultural business environment.
  • Significant track record in PD and L&D best practice across a variety of organisations.
  • Experience of all aspects of People Development and Learning, especially in sales, services, people leadership and organization development.
  • Significant success record in organization strategy and change management.
  • A track record of achievement and recognition in and by the Business.
  • Proven people and change management skills.
  • Proven programme/complex project management skills.
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking and creates fresh ideas.
  • English essential, other European languages desirable.
