The post holder is required to work as a member of Paediatric Critical Care nursing team, they will be a member of a team of Band 7 nurses who take managerial, professional and clinical responsibility for the paediatric critical care nursing team. They will have 24 hours responsibility for the management and delivery of care within PCCU. They will deputise when requested for the PCCU Matron including undertaking responsibility for the management of Children's Services when delegated by the Senior Nurse/Head Nurse.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration RSCN or RN (Adult, Child or Learning Disability Branch)
- Paediatric Critical Care Course
- Degree in health / nursing related Studies or on degree pathway
- Continuing professional development/ reflective profile
- Possession of a Mentoring Course
- APLS
- Completion of all local competency packages.
- Leo course
Desirable criteria
- Formal leadership and management training
- Use of clinical benchmarking to influence patient care (Essence of Nursing)
- Evidence of study at Masters level
- Research training/experience
- EPALS
- GIC instructor or equivalent
Experiance
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 5 years post registration experience to include management/leadership experience
- Clinically credible who is experienced in Paediatric Critical Care Nursing and able to utilise their clinical expertise and specialist knowledge to deliver high quality evidence based education and care of the critically ill baby, child or young person
- Understanding of audit or research within the clinical area
- Formal teaching of groups of staff
- Understanding of risk management and clinical governance

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
