Knight Frank is looking to hire a Payroll Manager to join the Accounts department at our Baker Street Head Office on a Fixed Term Contract.

Role:

The Payroll Manager's role will oversee and have full responsibility for the UK monthly payroll which consists of 3000 plus employees within 8 pay groups. Ensuring employees are paid on time and correctly and that the payroll system is fully compliant.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage UK payroll for 3,000+ employees across 8 pay groups, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing.
  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliation, including error reviews, variance checks, and gross-to-net reconciliation, and create BACS files.
  • Regularly review and enhance payroll processes to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Handle monthly Real-Time Information (RTI) submissions and reconcile Tax, NIC, and apprenticeship levy figures with HMRC.
  • Reconcile pension contributions with third parties, resolving issues before payroll finalisation, and oversee auto-enrolment processes.
  • Manage pension transfers, re-enrolment, and ad hoc pension requirements, and provide monthly pension contribution reports.
  • Ensure compliance with National Minimum and Living Wage requirements, particularly for salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Review and process redundancy calculations, childcare assessments, salary changes, and payroll benefits.
  • Oversee statutory and occupational leave processes, including maternity, sickness, and shared parental leave.
  • Resolve payroll system issues with third-party suppliers and ensure system compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and stakeholders to ensure payroll policies and procedures align with business needs.
  • Manage annual payroll activities such as bonuses, promotions, P11Ds, P60s, and PAYE settlement agreements.
  • Produce and maintain the annual payroll processing timetable and oversee corporate health cover renewal.
  • Lead a team of 4-5 payroll specialists, providing training, development, and regular team meetings to address issues and plan activities.
  • Support testing for statutory updates, ensuring payroll system compliance, and assist with ad hoc payroll reports and tasks.

Key Experience Required:

  • Excellent current, technical payroll knowledge including CIPP Qualified.
  • Previous experience of managing a payroll team, with the ability to mentor and help them develop.
  • Experience of processing a manual payroll from start to finish.
  • Excellent systems (SAP essential and ideally an understanding of Workday) and numerical skills.
  • Exposure to transformation projects such as HRIS systems and integration with payrolls.
