  • £27,269 - £29,093 pro rata
  • 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year*
  • Permanent
  • Reference: 6083
  • Required from September 2024 or as soon as possible

* 39 term time weeks plus 111 annualised hours to be worked according to business need.

Monday - Thursday, 8am to 4pm and Friday, 8am to 3:30pm. These timings include a daily unpaid break of 30 minutes.

Responsible to: Ex-Principal via Vice Principal (Behaviour and Safety) via Head of Year.

As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and personal development of our students. You will provide one-on-one support, manage behaviour, and implement pastoral care programs that encourage positive student outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • offering guidance and support to students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
  • developing and implementing individualised support plans
  • working with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support
  • promoting positive behaviour and resolving conflicts
  • monitoring attendance and addressing punctuality and truancy issues
  • leading assemblies, workshops, and activities focused on well-being and personal development
  • acting as a designated safeguarding lead, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed
  • collaborating with teachers, support staff, and the Senior Leadership Team to identify and address student needs.

You will demonstrate prior experience in a similar role, the ability to work flexibly, prioritise your workload, remain calm under pressure, and maintain a professional, friendly demeanour always. You will have:

  • experience in a pastoral, counselling, or similar role within an educational setting
  • a strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
