RAi is a national centre creating an international ecosystem for responsible AI research and innovation. It will enable responsible and trustworthy AI to power benefits for everyday life. This is a £31 million consortium representing the whole of the UK, led by the University of Southampton and including Universities of Nottingham, Glasgow, Swansea, Cambridge, Queen's University of Belfast, UCL, and King's College London.

The Partnership Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the RAi community building efforts and facilitating stakeholder engagement. This includes bringing together the RAi consortium, as well as fostering collaborations with external stakeholders including UKRI, Government, industry partners, and the general public. They will support the CEO in stakeholder partnership development and translational research activities.

Based in King's College London in the [Faculty of Arts & Humanities] and reporting to Katrin Tiedau and the RAi Head of Transformation, the Partnerships Manager will be an integral part of the wider RAi Operations Team who are located within King's, in the University of Southampton, and in the University of Nottingham.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an indepth understanding of the projects carried out across the RAi portfolio and summarise key insights to present up-to-date information to key partners of the RAi Programme as relevant.
  • Maintain communication with RAi project PIs (funded and internal) working with the Head of Projects to understand their priorities and upcoming initiatives.
  • Relationship building: Provide support to the CEO in establishing partnerships with key stakeholders, identifying opportunities for networking and collaboration.
  • Manage relationships and liaise with industry leaders, government entities, academic institutions, and other relevant organisations to foster a vibrant RAi community.
  • Collaboration building: Develop and implement strategies to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within the community.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and collaboration between academia and industry.
  • Events management: Coordinate with the Events Manager to ensure successful delivery of events.
  • Project management: Develop and implement strategies, procedures and processes for effective programme management and oversight.
  • Manage projects, taking responsibility for budgets, deliverables and deadlines, working in partnership with other members of the Operations Team.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones and report on outcomes to the Executive Management Team.
  • Communications: Communicate information clearly and precisely, and via appropriate channels.
  • Problem-solving: Work with the Operations Team to think ahead and troubleshoot where necessary.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31-03-2028.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Degree, HND, NVQ 4 qualified or equivalent in relevant subject/relevant formal training, plus relevant experience in similar or related roles.
  2. Project management experience with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines in complex environments.
  3. Proven track record of assisting the initiation and development of successful large-scale collaborative projects.
  4. Proven experience in event planning and coordination.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships with stakeholders.
  6. Results-oriented, able to multitask, and work well in a team and as an individual contributor.
  7. Ability to make informed operational decisions based on data, sound analysis and judgement.
  8. Ability to prioritise workloads across several different areas and manage conflicting demands and deadlines.
  9. Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.

Desirable criteria

  1. PRINCE2 qualification or equivalent relevant project management experience.
  2. Experience of working in or closely with the Higher Education sector
  3. Experience of and understanding of AI technologies and their impact on society.
  4. Experience working with academic projects and UKRI funders.
  5. Experience working with a range of industry actors from different sectors.
  6. Experience working with WordPress.
