We are looking for a Packaging Sustainability Manager to join our Clothing & Home Team. You will be responsible for Support, Develop and drive the delivery of the C&H Packaging Sustainability Strategy with the Packaging Lead

Responsibility for management of all suppliers to ensure technical and legal compliance of all packaging.

Communicate and ensure implementation of best industry practice is followed in all projects within the Business.

Demonstrate outstanding communication skills with both colleagues and the supply chain

Responsible & Accountable for all Packaging Waste & Legislative/Sustainability Reporting

Initiate, lead and monitor projects which are aimed at advancing key sustainability goals of M&S as well as leverage commercial impact and packaging innovation

What you'll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Work with the Packaging Lead to develop the Clothing, Home & Beauty packaging sustainability and compliance strategy, putting the customer first, aligning to the commercial strategy!
  • Protect all packaging components across from product safety, compliance and sustainability and ethical issues in line with legislation and policy.
  • Build and maintain policies and processes that support PLAN A reporting for internal and external purposes including key compliance and sustainability measurements and targets, ensuring clear communication and implementation across teams and regions. Coaching and providing direction to drive vital compliance.
  • Ensure deployment of environmental sustainability data management tools, with the M&S Supply Chain including data collected from the HIGG and ZDHC tools.
  • Build positive relationships with the UK and Global compliance and sustainability teams, colleagues, suppliers and peers.

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

  • Excellent project management skills delivering to critical path time scales and legislative agendas. Eg packaging reductions
  • Degree in Chemistry, Textile, Packaging, Sustainability and Environmental Science or related disciplines
  • Passion for sustainability with knowledge and experience of industry-wide initiatives in raw material (plastics, board) and environmental sustainability
  • Highly analytical, able to interpret data (Higg Index, Environmental Chemicals, Power BI, Advanced Excel Advanced Power Point l, LCA, CIU, QPI's) and drive insights and present results to support strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of dealing with packaging manufacturing and technologies on a global scale.
  • Proven track record to drive, deliver and present sustainability, innovation and newness in aligned and joined up approach with Colleagues and suppliers.
