We're looking for an
Outwards Reinsurance Placement Manager
Based in our London office reporting to our Head of Outwards Reinsurance Placement, this role will support the successful placement of all outwards reinsurance across Hamilton Global Specialty (HGS). HGS is our multi-platform, specialty insurer operating primarily through a Lloyd's Syndicate and Dublin operating company with a managing general agency in the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support placement of all outwards reinsurance for HGS
- Manage key relationships with brokers, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure high-quality renewal submissions, marketing materials, and post-placement processes
- Oversee reinsurance business planning inputs and counterparty security monitoring
- Maintain contract wordings, risk, audit, and compliance standards
What you will do
Outwards Placement & Execution
- Manage placement timelines and ensure all facultative and treaty purchases meet internal and external standards
- Maintain strong broker and reinsurer relationships, sharing updates on underwriting and purchasing appetite
- Coordinate with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Exposure Management, RI Operations, FP&A, and R&A to ensure consistent understanding of structures and key changes
Renewal Preparation
- Support preparation of renewal submissions and marketing materials with the Head of Outwards Reinsurance Placement
- Oversee smooth handover to Reinsurance Operations and ensure all reporting requirements are completed
Business Planning
- Produce outwards premium estimates at treaty/class level with commentary
- Align assumptions and outputs with FP&A, management, and underwriting teams
Counterparty Security & Governance
- Manage reinsurer security monitoring and prepare reports for key groups such as the Ceded Reinsurance Working Group
- Recommend improvements to strengthen the counterparty security framework
- Ensure compliance with audit, SOX, Lloyd's, and internal risk requirements, and track performance against placement targets
Contract Wordings & Coverage
- Work with brokers and internal wordings counsel on all outwards contract wordings and manage wording change requests with underwriters
- Identify and address DICs between inwards and outwards business
- Communicate special acceptance requests to brokers and the market to maintain intended coverage
What you require for the role
- Previous experience in the successful placement of outwards covers within a specialty insurer/reinsurer
- Strong experience managing relationships with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders
- Ability to productively leverage data and technology
- Proficient in the use of software such as Microsoft Office, Power BI and SQL
