Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at East Cheshire NHS Trust for a Senior Midwife to apply for the Outpatient Maternity Manager. We are looking to recruit an experienced Midwife to provide a high level of visible leadership, management and clinical expertise in the community setting and maternity unit.
East Cheshire NHS Trust provide maternity services to approximately 1500 women, pregnant people and families each year providing excellent quality care in line with the latest national and regional standards.

We are looking for an adaptable individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, works well as part of a multi-disciplinary team and has the ability to work under pressure, whilst moving the service forward. Applicants should be able to demonstrate previous knowledge and experience in the provision of community midwifery care, leadership, service development and staff management skills. This role will include split clinical and management time.
Hours per week: 22.5 hours
Fixed Term 12 months
Main duties of the job
To provide a high level of clinical expertise, leadership and management in the maternity department, and community as required.
To work within the Clinical Governance framework to ensure higher standards of care are provided.
To participate in the on-call rota as required in the provision of the 24 hour service.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registered Midwife
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Teaching certificate or Mentorship/Preceptorship certificate
Desirable criteria
- Management course
- Leadership course
- PMA (Professional Midwifery Advocate) qualification
- Post graduate degree
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In-depth knowledge of maternity services
- Awareness of political issues affecting health and midwifery care
- Knowledge of National Maternity Agendas
- Budget management skills
- Evidence service development such as Quality Improvement Projects
Desirable criteria
- Utilise evidence-based research to inform and develop practice
- Comprehensive awareness
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge in antenatal / postnatal care

Experience

- Experience of delivering service in line with public health national agenda
- Midwifery experience within a UK setting, demonstrating awareness and skills of excellent, evidence-based practice.
- Experience working within the maternity postnatal and triage setting

- Previous experience as a Labour Ward Coordinator
- Budget awareness
- Overall management operational maternity services
