Outdoor Education Learning Mentor - Level 1 - Dorchester Learning Centre

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About The Role

This is an exciting new role as a Learning Mentor for our Outdoor Education provision. We're extending our vocational curriculum and you will be part of the start-up. This job will be based both on-site at the Learning Centre (Monkton Park) and off-site, supporting our pupils at their outdoor provision. You will be reporting to the Outdoor Education Instructor. This is a term time only job but will cover all seasons - so you need to enjoy the outside! Please see the attached job description but focus on the context statement that accompanies it.

This is an exciting time to join our wonderful school as we expand both our pupil numbers and our site at Monkton Park. We passionately believe that happy, highly respected employees are vital for the smooth running of our school. We therefore take the wellbeing of our staff very seriously and ensure that they all maintain a healthy work-life balance. Successful candidates will be prepared to work hard and respond to the daily challenges of school life but won't have any unreasonable demands placed upon them.

Dorchester Learning Centre values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community. Dorchester Learning Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

Dorchester Learning centre educates pupils aged between 5 - 16, who can't access mainstream education for a variety of reasons. This might be for medical reasons, an SEMH need, dual registered placements with a mainstream school or pupils who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream provision. We are the only school in Dorset with the Trauma Informed School accreditation. We are a learning community that is child centred, putting the needs of our pupils first.

Visits to our school our highly recommended during the school day, so please don't hesitate to contact Debbie Guyler to arrange an appointment on 01305 261213 or email [email protected] .
