About the role:

The Deputy Out of Hours' Security Manager will support the Out of Hours' Security Manager managing the out of hours security delivery across the estate and will oversee the initial incident response by King's security teams across all Campuses, associated Residences, and other areas of King's Estate. They will be the single 'out of hours' point of contact for all security supervisors when on duty.

Through a combination of tasking and self-deployment, they will be expected to visit all the campuses to ensure the highest standards of conduct and customer service skills are displayed by all the out of hours security staff and will resolve issues as they emerge or escalate as required. As an experienced security professional, they will drive efficiencies by intelligent use of resources and support the wider Cleaning and Security Services (CSS) team with future transformation change.

The postholder will be the key point of contact in the event of any out of hours emergency on campus or adjacent to our estate and will lead the security response supported by Out of Hours Security Manager and the Campus Security Manager.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.

This is a full-time post 48 hrs (12hrs x 4 shifts covering all nights and weekend days)

About you: (the candidate)

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar managerial role of security staff covering management of night staff, events, and incident management

2. Experience in dealing with HR matters including sickness absence, discipline matters, performance issues, PDRs, and misconduct investigations

3. Have a good knowledge of the security industry in a large multi-site operation

4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both spoken and written

5. Ability to use own initiative without supervision

6. Customer focused approach to service delivery

7. A pro-active and flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to change, and a high attention to detail

8. SIA license holder

9. Full UK driving license to drive manual vehicles

Desirable criteria

1. Qualifications: Educated to A-level or higher, IOSH, and NEBOSH

2. Knowledge of current security and access control systems legislation along with computer literacy and use of MS Office packages

3. Experience of working with Trade Unions to resolve conflict or other issues in the workplace and providing training to staff on security matters

4. Understanding of the current challenges in the HE sectors or similar setting
