As part of the Mencap Visiting Service we are looking for a volunteer to visit an older lady 6 times a year.

She is a lady who likes to go out and about with support staff. She really enjoys shopping, going to local café's and to the pub.

Visits will take place out in the community with support staff.

This role is perfect for someone who is patient and understanding. Ideally you will have experience in learning disabilities .

When & where do I need to be available?

  • Visits will be every 2 months during the week
  • Visits will last around an 1 hour
  • You will go out in the community with support staff

As a Mencap Visiting Volunteer you will b e:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Friendly, patient and reliable

We offer a lifelong befriending service for people with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of individual people with a learning disability.

Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.

In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone's life who isn't paid to be there for them.
