ALS Laboratories are seeking a new Laboratory Manager to step in and support their Organics department at ALS Hawarden.
You will organise and manage departments in the laboratory, working to support staff, drive continuous improvement and excel in business objectives around quality and integrity.

Days Per Week:
Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:30
Contract:Full Time and Permanent
Hours:37 Hours
Salary:£35,000+ Dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain UKAS standards within the respective work areas by means of regular auditing.
  • Verify the quality and accuracy of documentation for system failures and ensure timely completion.
  • Review and authorise laboratory procedures and (analytical) methods to ensure their continuing validity.
  • To advise and consult with the Customer Services department on technical matters pertaining to product quality.
  • Manage technical development and nonroutine testing.
  • Champion the Personal Development Plan process throughout the department.
  • Conduct investigations as required, working with HR to ensure optimised staff performance.
  • Introduce and implement medium/long term policy e.g. how lab runs/processes.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviours in line with company values, striving for continuous improvement.

About You

  • The job holder must be qualified to degree level in an appropriate subject.
  • Previous practical laboratory experience is essential.
  • Membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry would be advantageous.
  • Previous people management experience and client contact experience.
  • Good computer skills and experience in Microsoft office packages essential.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience with firsthand analysis instruments.
