Overview of the role

To identify and implement programmes and initiatives designed to maximise productivity through data driven process observations and improvements.

Responsible for driving operational efficiency within our pharmacies and optimising opportunity for growth delivery and process compliance. Ongoing evolution of our systems, processes, ways of working, effective communication, capacity planning and cost control. Drive delivery of operational targets and productive relationships between field and centre.

Main Responsibility

  • Establish Operations infrastructure to support improvements encompassing patient safety, quality, productivity, service delivery, and execution of corporate strategy.
  • Work with HSC, Central Ops, Commercial and Transformation teams to develop approaches to exploit opportunities, prioritising early wins, agree the practical implementation of plans, and support the implementation and benefit realisation.
  • Be the custodian of store process documentation, currently BIC. Engage the business to gain buy in. Ensure a robust control and governance mechanism exists to drive compliance
  • Support the Head Of Central Operations in redesigning of the operational resource modelling tool working as part of a cross functional team to review, redesign and simplify the current Max E model
  • Use data to understand what drives the differential in performance between the top and bottom performing stores, identify key drivers of volume and productivity performance, prioritising quick wins and building into the current and next year's activity plan.
  • Hold quarterly reviews with business representatives to agree and sign off on all benefits. Gain consensus on how benefit will be delivered and ensure the new agreed state is reflected in the operational resource modelling tool
  • Build a culture of Continuous Improvement through coaching and supporting colleagues with problem solving tools and techniques. Develop a mechanism to encourage ideas from colleagues and track progress
  • Establish a stock profiling system that accurately reflects stock volumes, forward cover and deadstock position of our pharmacies and work with stakeholders to produce a dashboard and/or reporting tool for pharmacies and field leaders.
  • To support in the formulation of and implementation of future projects.
  • Ability to make courageous decisions and challenge others in the interest of making the right decisions for the business and our pharmacies.
  • Plan programmes of work 12 months in advance
  • Confident in working at pace and working in a fast changing and ambiguous environment
  • Ability to manage change programmes and communicate and gain buy in to changes across the business
  • Six Sigma Black Belt qualification desirable
  • Experience and qualifications in lean methodology.
  • Experience of working in a senior role within a retail operations environment and project management.
  • Experience of leading programmes of work across multiple functions
  • Strong influencer at all levels with ability to implement change across c.700 pharmacies.
  • Experience in process mapping, flow charts, Process Diagrams, Swimlane Diagrams, Value Stream and SIPOC
