An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ophthalmology Nurse Manager to join our Ophthalmology Department at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate is required to be driven on delivering patient care and providing a quality service, and act appropriately to the changing needs of those accessing the service.
The department consists of a 7 bedded Ophthalmology Day Ward, and an Outpatient Department including the services, AMD, non-AMD, Glaucoma, Triage, Retinal, Corneal, Preoperative clinics, Oculoplastic and CNS clinics. Our services operate with 8 consultants covering all areas of the Ophthalmology speciality.
The Ophthalmology nurse manager will help assess, plan, and implement services within the department for staff and services users, and will provide clinical and managerial leadership to staff and students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing ongoing risks, governance and be able to regularly review risk registers, and make changes as necessary for the service.

Main duties of the job
The main aspects of the role include but not limited to:-
- Leadership and Management of the department and the team.
- Governance and Risk management.
- Budget planning and management.
- Teaching and education of new starters and students.
- Further education and training of current workforce.
- Rostering.
- All aspects of attendance management.
- Liaising with wider hospital teams to ensure working in collaboration
