We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day to day logistics of our plant and machinery movement operations. Based at our offices in Avonmouth, Bristol, the hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.30pm.

You will ensure our plant movement teams, machinery and equipment are allocated to meet our customer requirements on a daily basis.

Working within a dynamic environment, duties will include:

  • Liaising with area managers, and sales and contract managers to get a detailed understanding of each job, ensuring all details are available for each job.
  • Allocating and instructing the operatives team to ensure that the right personal and equipment is identified to each job.
  • Sourcing own operatives, plant and equipment and from external suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring a detailed record is kept, including cost and location of all equipment.
  • Responsible for the signing of purchase ledger and ensuring that the rehire cost is minimised.

This is a very busy and challenging role so we are looking for a confident and professional individual who can thrive under pressure with high attention to detail.

Experience / Skills:

  • Relevant experience preferably gained within the crane or plant hire industry
  • Operational understanding of a hire desk within the plant and machinery movement, crane or plant hire industries would be an advantage
  • Experience of managing sub-contractors based around different geographical locations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • Prioritisation and the ability to work under pressure
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office
