A Snapshot of Your Day
Dive into a day as the Operations Manager at our Panel Build Factory, where your leadership sparks into action with a morning briefing to align your team on daily goals and safety standards. The panel facility is a world-class location supplying all our UK customers with Protection, Automation and Control panels for sub-stations. Your day is a dynamic mix of managing projects to drive the delivery of panels for our customers, ensuring adherence to Siemens Energy's quality and processes, driving team performance, and supervising subcontractor audits. You lead the efforts of the facility to ensure adherence to our safety policies and our Zero Harm Culture.
You're also deeply involved in resource planning and supporting recruitment to keep operations smooth. You work with the shift leads and local HR to ensure each shift is staffed appropriately, including the contract labour required to support the assembly work. You ensure the supply management team is fully supported in their supplier discussions and planning. You review the load plan periodically with your factory leadership team and communicate to the DG leadership on lead times, utilization, etc. Any customer on-site visits for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) are planned for by the FAT team directly under your guidance.
As the day closes, you review progress and prep for the next, always with an eye on efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. Every day is an opportunity to excel and lead your team towards operational excellence.
How You'll Make an Impact
As the Operations Manager at our Panel Build Factory, you'll lead the charge in operational excellence, focusing on cost efficiency, timely delivery, and superior quality. The focus is on developing a safety-first culture in line with Siemens Energy standards to enhance business performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visionary Leadership: Strategically and operationally guide the facility, promoting a work environment ripe for growth.
- Operational Management: Oversee assigned office and shop floor employees as well as contractors, aiming for seamless and efficient operations in manufacturing panels.
- Focus on Excellence: Sharpen the focus on optimizing cost, time, and quality in every project. Target zero variance at the factory level to the budget. Target planned utilization and proactive resource management to prevent underutilization
- Promote Improvement: Encourage continuous performance enhancements across teams.
- Ensure Subcontractor Compliance: Monitor subcontractors including factory floor contract employees to ensure they meet our stringent standards.
- Performance Reporting: Deliver insightful performance, budget, and resource analyses. Develop a comprehensive manufacturing load plan for current and future years in close collaboration with the Grid Solutions and Digital Grid business leaders
- Collaborative Approach: Engage with managers to manage resources and plan strategically, including recruiting to meet project requirements.
- Change Control: Strictly manage change processes to maintain project scope and budget.
What You'll Bring:
- Electrical Engineering degree/HND or similar, with Project Management or leadership training. Chartered status is a plus.
- 10+ years in the Transmission and Distribution Industry, demonstrating success in leading multi-disciplined teams and managing commercial projects in a factory/assembly line environment. Factory leadership experience is a significant plus.
- Strong in communication, decision-making, and problem-solving, with a comprehensive understanding of contract delivery and change management.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate teams, fostering an environment of respect, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Demonstrates initiative, is outcome-focused, and capable of making bold decisions in the best interest of the company and customers.
