What will I be doing in this role?
We're looking for a dedicated Operations Manager to join our Highway Electrical team at our Leeds office. In this role, you'll manage our ongoing relationship with Leeds City Council and take charge of the day-to-day project management of a large Highway Electrical PFI contract across West Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high standards across all aspects of project management.
In a typical day, you could expect to be;
- Project Management: Oversee the successful execution of a large-scale Highway Electrical PFI contract, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for Leeds City Council, ensuring a strong and collaborative partnership, while anticipating and addressing client needs proactively.
- Safety Leadership: Promote a first-class safety culture by setting high expectations, leading by example, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Financial Control: Take ownership of the financial performance of the contract, including managing budgets, cost control, and ensuring key monthly financial targets are consistently met.
- Senior Reporting: Provide detailed, high-level reporting to senior management, ensuring that the progress, risks, and financial health of the project are fully understood and communicated.
- Technical Expertise: Offer technical assistance and solutions when needed, using your in-depth knowledge of Highway Electrical systems to support your team and client.
- Team Development: Lead, motivate, and develop your team to meet the demands of the contract, ensuring continuous improvement and promoting a positive, results-driven environment.
- Commercial Awareness: Maintain strong commercial awareness, ensuring the business maximises opportunities while managing risks effectively. Identify ways to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
What do I need to be successful in the role?
- Proven Project Management Skills: A track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects, ideally within the Highway Electrical sector.
- Client-Focused Mindset: Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with experience in managing key stakeholders and maintaining long-term client partnerships.
- Financial Acumen: Strong financial control and budget management skills, with the ability to meet targets and manage resources effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical abilities, allowing you to assess project performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement effective solutions.
- MS Office Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel for reporting and financial tracking.
- Drive and Initiative: A proactive, self-motivated approach, with a passion for exceeding expectations and achieving result
