Job Description

The Operations Managers main responsibilities are to ensure works are delivered in compliance with the company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality procedures. You would be responsible for the financial monitoring and control of the business's contracts, working closely with the contract teams to deliver an efficient effective service to our clients.

Health, Safety and Environment responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure works are being delivered safely and all workforce are up to date with all relevant training and qualifications.
  • Produce RAMS documents and Work Phase plans for contracts.
  • Carryout regular VFL Tours and Tool box talks with operational team.
  • Lead by example by regularly attending site in full PPE
  • Ensure the work force are protected with the correct traffic management and information is supplied on the Work Sheets to crews.

Contract Delivery responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preplanning and programming of the works
  • Arranging pre site inspections and measurements
  • Site briefings
  • Review performance of the project - both financially and operationally to learn from performance
  • Ensure the correct documentation is held on site
  • Management of pre and post grip and sand patch tests for every site treated
  • Ensure works are completed on time and to specification
  • Aiding the early identification and notification of contract variances
  • Ensure works are carried out in line with agreed Method and Methodology
  • Supervision of Contract Managers and Supervisors, ensuring processes and management systems are fully communicated and adhered too
  • Monitoring daily performance on site

Work phase plans responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure rates for all schemes are correct and in place on the business systems
  • Ensure the correct labour, plant and materials are available to carry out the works
  • Monitor progress of works and keep records of when jobs are completed, part completed or any relevant issues to note.
  • Provide reports to relevant departments
  • Work with internal departments to ensure all aspects of works are carried out correctly and in a timely manner
  • Conduct relevant people management tasks including, return to works, appraisals etc.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience, either as a Manager or a Supervisor - advanced knowledge of surfacing materials, and surface treatments.
  • An extensive knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Someone that has a track record of managing client relationships.
  • Proactively and positively promote Health & Safety at all times
  • Operate as part of the team, harnessing a working environment which encourages teamwork
  • Excellent organisation, communication, IT and time management skills
  • Ambitious and professional - improvement orientated with a desire to undertake any other relevant training deemed necessary to enhance performance
  • The ability to empathise and communicate with people
  • Ability to manage workload and ask for help and guidance when required
  • You will be career driven, resilient and have a strong work ethic
  • You will be a hands-on, enthusiastic individual who will be involved and invested in the company's long-term future and success

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • All applicants should hold qualifications relevant to the position being applied for, a CSCS and National Highways Passport cards are essential.
  • Great communication skills and able to work collaboratively.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business environments, contract requirements, and priorities.
  • Ability to handle and resolve conflicts / disputes that may occur.
  • knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Applicants holding additional certification such as SSSTS / SMSTS, First Aid at Work and Streetworks will be at an advantage.
