Operations Manager

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

This isn't your ordinary Operations Manager role.

As the Operations Manager at NRS Healthcare, your role will be central to the success of our service centre operations. You'll be tasked with ensuring that our site delivers the highest possible service and standards to our service users across both transport and warehouse. Your mission is to drive, maintain, and improve best practice operational standards, supporting the General Manager in achieving excellence. As an ambassador for NRS Healthcare, you'll set the tone for your team and the wider organisation.

In your new role, you'll be responsible for the overall Warehouse and Transport operations, leading your team to find the most efficient warehouse and transport solutions to support the region's activities. You'll work to ensure that our warehouse and transport operations are running at their best, implementing best practices in people, processes, and systems.

This role will cover Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday cover required.

This is a role for someone experienced in industry-standard ways of working, who can help maintain and elevate our operations from both a standards and service perspective. You'll play a key role in embedding future business practices and processes, developing and implementing good practices, and influencing your team positively.

You will be the driving force behind our Warehouse and Transport operations, responsible for all on-site activities related to running these operations. You'll lead by example, ensuring best practices are instilled in all team members and that they act with the appropriate behaviours. Your leadership will ensure that the best possible operations are achieved, maintained, and improved upon, providing the best possible service to our users.

Developing efficient processes will be a significant part of your role, ensuring that service users experience collections and deliveries in the most professional and efficient manner possible. Through continuous improvement activities, you will help influence future contract renewals, enhancing retention and renewal outcomes.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the transport team to ensure NRS Healthcare runs its operations as efficiently and professionally as possible.
  • Proactively managing and motivating drivers to achieve planned targets and deadlines.
  • Acting as an escalation point to resolve issues promptly.
  • Managing out-of-hours amendments, planning, and forecasting.
  • Conducting daily briefings and debriefs of the transport team.
  • Performing full line management duties, including monitoring sickness and absence.
  • Promoting a culture of Health and Safety adherence, including reporting near misses and incidents.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of delivery documents.
  • Overseeing reporting and monitoring, including tachograph and time and labour reporting.
  • Managing drivers' hours, overtime, working time directives, and shift operations correctly.

To excel in this role, you will need proven expertise and experience in a managerial role within a transport/logistics environment. Your knowledge of transport best practices, transport planning, reporting, and monitoring, as well as transport/logistics systems and processes, will be vital. A strong team player, you will support the delivery of common business goals, set and maintain high standards of work, and manage your team effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written, oral, and presentational abilities, will be essential. You'll need experience managing within a complex, round-the-clock logistics operation and demonstrate leadership and supervision, working with people, and providing customer service excellence.

We offer competitive salaries, full training and development for your role, as well as a wide range of benefits.
Some of these include:
